Cautions and warnings

The import/export process described in this help topic is powerful and assumes that the user performing the process is aware of the ramifications of using the process. If the process is misused or used incorrectly, it may create severe problems for the users of the Solution Center.

Before using the process, the user should fully understand the implications of the process. It is important to know which fields should not be modified and which fields are safe to modify. In most cases the user should not modify the following fields.

•booResetPassword

•datCreated

•datLogin

•varID

•varParentID

In certain cases the import/export process may be used to change the above fields. For example, to easily re-parent users the system administrator could use the process to modify the varParentID to a new parent if the previous parent has been deleted or re-assigned.

The system does make a backup copy of the tblUsers and tblUserDefaults tables prior to updating the tables. Currently, to restore either table from a backup, the system administrator must contact BCA and ask for the latest backup to be restored.
